CONCERT ENSEMBLES
Lincoln Middle School offers three leveled concert band experiences for students 5-8 in District 57. Beginning band is offered in 5th grade for students at Lion's Park and Fairview, while Licoln offers 6th grade and 7th/8th grade ensembles. All rehearsals are before school.
5th Grade Band
The 5th Grade Band is the entry-level performing organization in the instrumental music program
Membership is available to all 5th grade students at Lions Park and Fairview
Students can expect to perform at least 2 times a year
All students participate in a small group pull-out lesson during the school with like-instruments once a week
5th Grade Band rehearses once a week before school at their respective campus, with Fairview rehearsing on Tuesdays, and Lions Park rehearsing on Thursdays, beginning at 7:00am
Lincoln Winds (6th Grade Band)
The 6th Grade Band is the primary developmental performing organization in the instrumental music program
Membership is available to all 6th grade students
Students can expect to perform up to 3 times a year, in addition to other festival/contest or travel opportunities
All students participate in a small group pull-out lesson during the school day with like-instruments once a week
Students are strongly encouraged, but not required, to participate in Solo and Ensemble Contest, in addition to other Chamber Music opportunities
6th Grade Band rehearses twice a week, on Wednesday and Friday mornings beginning at 7:00AM
Concert Band (7/8th Grade Band)
The Concert Band is the primary performing organization in the instrumental music department
Membership is available to all 7th and 8th grade students
Select 6th grade students may be able to perform with the concert band on a case by case basis
Students can expect to perform at least 4 times a year, in addition to other festival, contest or travel opportunities
Students will get to work with at least one guest clinician during the school year
All students participate in a small group pull-out lesson during the school day with like-instruments once a week
Students are strongly encouraged, but not required, to participate in Solo and Ensemble Contest, in addition to other Chamber Music opportunities

As festivals/contests approach, we may schedule additional after school rehearsals that will be communicated well in-advance
JAZZ ENSEMBLES
Lincoln is proud to offer two Jazz Bands to enrich and enhance our students’ musical training and is an extracurricular activity that meets outside of the school day. Placement is audition-based.
Students in our jazz ensembles can expect to perform music in the jazz, latin, and pop genres, in addition to practicing improvisation. Membership is audition-based and available to all students enrolled in a musical ensemble at Lincoln. All students who submit an audition will be placed into an ensemble. Students are strongly encouraged, but not required, to attend the after school Jazz Clinic held in mid-September to better prepare for their audition.
Audition information and materials will be distributed the first week of September, with auditions being due near the end of that month.
Lincoln Jazz Band
The Lincoln Jazz Band rehearses once a week, on Monday mornings beginning at 7AM
As performances approach, we may schedule additional after school rehearsals that will be communicated well in-advance
The Lincoln Jazz Band is the highest extracurricular instrumental ensemble at Lincoln Middle School
This ensembles aims to maintain traditional big band instrumentation (saxophones, trombones, trumpets, bass, piano, guitar, drum set, auxiliary, vibraphone)
Students can expect to perform at least 3 times a year, in addition to festival/contest or other travel opportunities
Students can also participate in the Lincoln Lab Band
Lincoln Lab Band
The Lincoln Lab Band rehearses once a week, after school on Wednesdays from 2:50-3:30pm
The Lincoln Lab Band is the primary developmental extracurricular ensemble at Lincoln Middle School
This ensemble is open to all instruments and all students who submit an audition video
Interested students can also practice doubles in this ensemble
Students can expect to perform at least 2 times a year
